On May 14th 2023, a group of remarkable women stepped into something they thought would be a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
They believed they were coming to learn how to teach a yoga class. And yes, they absolutely did.
But what unfolded was so much more.
Over seven weeks, they immersed themselves in the practice of yoga – on and off the mat. They explored Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Japa Yoga, not only as philosophies to understand, but as living experiences to embody. Yoga became something they practiced in their relationships, in their doubts, in their courage, in their everyday choices.
There was a lot of laughter.
There were tears.
There were “aha” moments.
There were moments of uncertainty.
And there was deep learning – both as students and as teachers.
On June 2nd, they each taught a 90-minute yoga class as part of their final evaluation. And they did it beautifully.
Of course, the knowledge was there. The anatomy, the sequencing, the philosophy – all the hours of study had settled into them. But what truly stood out was something less measurable: their presence. The way they held space. The sincerity in their guidance. The joy of serving. The quiet confidence that had grown over the weeks.
Watching their transformation was one of the greatest gifts for us as teachers. It is an honour to witness women step into their voice, their strength and their calling.
When we asked for feedback, many shared that they felt ready – truly ready – to begin teaching. That the training had exceeded their expectations. One graduate wrote:
“This was the best possible investment in my future life. If you have the chance to do it, don’t miss out.”
And perhaps that is what this journey ultimately is:
An investment – not only in becoming a yoga teacher, but in becoming more fully yourself.
